Macari Vineyards, located on the North Fork of Eastern Long Island in Mattituck, is owned and operated by the Macari Family. The business is led by owners Joseph Macari Sr. and his wife, Katherine, and Joseph Macari Jr., who is at the helm of the winery with his wife, Alexandra. Though Macari Vineyards was established in 1995, the Macari Family has owned the 500 acre waterfront estate for nearly 50 years. In this time, they have been careful environmental stewards of the land. What were once potato fields and farmland has become a vineyard of 180 acres of vines with additional fields of compost, farmland, and a home to cows, goats, Sicilian donkeys and ducks.

Macari is on the cutting edge of viticulture and is dedicated to a more natural approach to winemaking. Joseph Macari, Jr. is recognized as a pioneer in the movement towards organic and sustainable farming on Long Island, employing principles of biodynamic farming since the vineyard’s first plantings. Extensive soil preparation, rich composts, careful cover cropping and a consideration to wildlife and terrain makes Macari’s 180 planted acres stand out from the rest. Taking into account the health of the environment as a whole, and moving away from the harmful effects of pesticides to a more natural and meticulous caretaking of the soil and plants, ultimately yields premium wines.

Macari’s airy Tasting Room and Winery is open for the public to enjoy. An architectural beauty, the building was designed by Carol DiCicco-Vinci. While visiting the winery’s tasting area, take in the spectacular vineyard views from just behind the grand fireplace, off the beautiful stone and timber deck.

Come taste Macari’s distinctive wines. Critics have called them “beguiling” and “complex.” Visit Macari Vineyards and see for yourself how the dedication of the Macari Family produces consistently award-winning wines.

Loughlin Vineyards is the closest Long Island vineyard to New York City. The vineyard is 6 acres and produces a generous harvest of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay grapes. The yearly harvest yields about 1000 cases of dry and sweet wines. Loughlin Vineyards first harvest was in 1985. Since then, Loughlin Vineyards has produced one of Long Island’s finest tasting red, white and blush wines, sure to compliment anyone’s taste. The vineyard is family owned and operated. It is located on the grounds of the historical Meadow Croft estate located on South Main Street in Sayville, New York in the middle of the Suffolk County Sans Souci Lake Nature Preserve, which divides Sayville on the west from Bayport on the east. You can walk along the wooded trail through the nature preserve and stop at the vineyard tasting room. As one of the major Long Island homesteads of the famous Roosevelt family which has figured so prominently in American public life, Meadow Croft carries special historical associations. When you enter, you will immediately be greeted by tall marsh grass and the sprawling mansion.

As you pass to the right of the estate, you will travel on a dirt road which opens up to the vineyard and tasting room. This is the signature year for Loughlin Vineyards. Not only is it our 25th anniversary of our first harvest, but we are proud to announce the opening of our own processing facility. Now, all of our wines are estate grown and bottled in Sayville.

The Loughlin Family will gladly share their knowledge of local history along with a selection of fine tastings from the vineyard. 2010 offers an exciting and new adventure for Loughlin Vineyards. Come enjoy the serenity and out of the ordinary vineyard experience. We can’t wait to welcome you!

We’ve grown since 1992! Lieb Vineyard now consists of 50 acres of premium quality vines.

Our 13 acres of Pinot Blanc grapes are the “elder statesmen” of our rootstock and date back to 1983. The original vines came from the Alsace region of France. A very special vineyard, the Pinot Blanc section located on Oregon Road in Cutchogue, LI, is considered the largest planting of this varietal in the Eastern US. Originally planted by Steve Mudd of Mudd Vineyards, it was maintained for many years by Sam McCullough, currently the vineyard manager at Lenz Winery. Since our purchase of the vineyard in 1992, we have strengthened the soil content and upgraded the pruning process. A decision was made to eliminate the usage of all herbicides – a unique strategy for this growing region, which to this day is in force in all portions of Lieb Vineyard.

In 1993 the remaining seven acres of our original holdings were planted with Merlot grapes.

We loved what we were doing, so in 1994 we bought 16 more acres and expanded our horizons. Chardonnay grapes were our major objective and we devoted 13 acres to this delicious varietal. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc vines were planted on the other three acres.

Lieb Vineyard’s most recent addition consists of 14 acres purchased in 1999. Four acres each are earmarked for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. To keep us on our toes we’re also trying an acre of Malbec and an acre of Petit Verdot!

High quality vines, because the best grapes make the best wines. Attention to the details, because the art of winemaking traces the long journey for grapes-one by one-from vineyard to bottle. Absence of herbicides, because our vineyard practices environmentally “friendly” techniques. These are the themes at Lieb Vineyard.

Laurel Lake Vineyards is nestled in the heart of the Long Island wine country in Laurel, on the North Fork of Long Island, NY. It is a world apart: quiet, agricultural, with abundant natural beauty.

Laurel Lake Winery is housed within the elegant, colonial-style building with a tasting room highlighted by an antique, landmark bar, stained windows, and a gift shop with varied and unique items. The expansive two story deck overlooking the vineyard provides an opportunity for guest to enjoy a glass of wine or a picnic. Laurel Lake regularly schedules live music, tours and specials events for the whole family. It is such a wonderful place, that every year many couples choose to celebrate their wedding with us.

Laurel Lake Vineyards was acquired by a group of Chilean and American vintner friends, with the passion for wine. They came here looking for beauty and for the unique wines that this geography provides. They found in Laurel Lake Vineyards the “Jewel of Long Island”, where their dreams came true.

Experience their passion for winemaking. Try our fabulous wines, discover their essence, aromas and flavors in a friendly atmosphere with a great view of the vineyard.
